My Thoughts on Miss USA 2012
As a former pageant girl, I never miss a Miss America or Miss USA show. I would feel as though I was breaking some sort of unspoken rule set by the pageant gods! This year was no different. I raced home from work just to see what this year had in store.
Surprisingly, it was relatively -for lack of a better word- boring! Nothing of extreme importance occurred! No tripping, no flubbing of on-stage answers, no wardrobe malfunctions… all too calm for my likings!
On the other hand, there were some real beauties this year. All of the top five were drop dead gorgeous gals who were in tip-top shape. Something I really liked about this year were the random states who placed in the top 5. Huge props to Ohio and Rhode Island- giving us small state girls some hope!
One thing that has me thrown for a loop is the winner! Not that I’m in any way hating on Olivia from Rhode Island, I think she’s stunning and extremely intelligent! Yet, I am sincerely shocked that out of the 5 girls pictured above, this year’s judges picked the shortest girl who was outfitted in the most conservative gown. This is Miss USA people, what on earth is going on! Miss USA is normally the tallest most exotic looking woman on stage who is undoubtedly beautiful but normally dressed in a more suggestive and sexy manner. You’d think that you were tuning into Miss America this year!
What does this mean for the future? Is there going to be a 360 in the type of woman selected for the upcoming state crowns across the country? I guess we have to wait and find out! In the meantime, congratulations to Olivia and thank you for proving that someone from outside of CA, TX, OK, and FL can actually do it!
